How it works
  • Store versions are re-read every hour and when you press Check stores now.
  • Google Play is read through the Play Developer API. Invite the service account in Play Console → Users and permissions with View app information (or set PLAY_SERVICE_ACCOUNT_PATH).
  • On open, the app calls GET /api/app-settings/check: below the minimum it must update; with a newer store version it gets a dismissible suggestion.
  • RCS sync (GET /api/app-versions/rcs-gate + the pairing relay) runs only when the phone app meets the RCS minimum and the extension is the latest store version.

How it works

The app checks its version against these settings on startup.

  • Version code is the build number (e.g., 101, 102)
  • Version name is the display version (e.g., 2.5.0)
  • If the user's version is below minimum, they must update to continue
  • If an update is available, users get a non-blocking prompt
